Brief Biography

I am currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor (PhD Supervisor) at Information Systems Technology and Design Pillar and Director at Reliable Machine Intelligence Lab (i.e., my research group), Singapore University of Technology and Design. I am also affiliated with RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project, as a Visiting Scientist (part-time). I was a Professor at College of Computer Science, Chongqing University, China and Visiting Professor at College of Computing and Data Science, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. My main research interests lie in machine learning, data mining, and artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on weakly supervised machine learning and trustworthy machine learning. Currently, I am also interested in foundation models with various fine-tuning strategies and would like to address various reliability issues (e.g., safety, robustness, privacy) faced by foundation models. My long-term goal is to build effective, reliable, and explainable machine learning systems, which can learn from various types of complex data with limited supervision information.
